Thomas Rowlandson (1756 – 1827) was an English artist and caricaturist. Rowlandson spent six years studying at the Royal Academy, but made his name poking fun at politicians, foreign enemies and even members of the royal family. The artist turned his pen on Napoleon, Charles James Fox and William Pitt the Younger. His erotic art shows us the hypocrisy within eighteenth-century sexual morality; cheating wives, lustful priests and flesh for sale are all satirised in his work.
